Oak Springs third, fourth and fifth graders have been reading books nominated for the Texas Bluebonnet Award. Scholars who read five books and completed a book report for each, were eligible to attend the scrumptious Bluebonnet Breakfast with librarian, Professor Frost. The scholars enjoyed eating, talking about the books and voting for their favorite book. The winning book was "10 Rules You Absolutely Must Not Break If You Want To Survive The School Bus".

Several of our parents gathered together for an arts and craft morning with our Parent Support Specialist. They engaged in great conversations and made a plethora of cool pieces!
Earlier this month, our superintendent, Dr. Carstarphen, shared the State of the District Address with the Austin community. Students and staff from all over AISD were asked to submit entries depicting where the district currently is and how we are working to reach the district's goals. Check out our video submission at https://vimeo.com/77735281.
Check out our NEW Oak Springs T-Shirts! Thank you Professor Vieau for finding and order them for us. Super cute design!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Oak Springs has partnered with the Ballet Austin to motivate and bring creative arts into Austin schools. We started off our Spring semester with a tour of Ballet Austin and a Hula dance lesson. Staff members learned about the history of Hula, the meaning of the moves, and even got to shake their hips. What a way to start 2014! Check out some of our staff trying out Hula for the first time! |
