On April 1st #CHICKFILA with Christian Outreach has graciously offered to donate breakfast to our Oak Springs staff! April 1st will be our first STAAR testing day. We look forward to the wonderful yummy goodies! THANK YOU! #chickfilarocks #outreachrocks
The theme was Reading on the Ranch. The scholars enjoyed learning about cowboys, cowgirls and ranching. We had some fabulous volunteers from INTEL who read stories, talked about life on the ranch and even performed magic tricks! Scholars were also able to choose their own book to keep! We will have another RIF event it May. This event will be a book swap and give-away.
Mrs. Strickland from First Baptist Church went to Africa last year for a month-long teaching program. She and Ms. Woods asked that our scholars send some cards for her scholars there. Our second and third graders made and decorated cards, and sent them with Mrs. Strickland. Her note describes their happiness in receiving the cards.
The Austin Chapter of the Links, Inc. helped to make Dr. Seuss Read Across America a huge success! Angela Henderson, from the Austin Links, provided volunteers to be guest readers to our scholars for the entire day. Principal Woods read Green Eggs and Ham to a group of scholars, after which, the Austin Links supplied real green eggs and ham to the group! Our very own Ms. Fabian was a huge help as well. Thank you to all of the volunteers for making the day a true celebration of reading! |
