Professor Zimmerman1. How long have you been in your current position/teaching? 5 years teaching (4 years in 5th-1 year in 4th GT) 2. What do you like most about your current grade/team? I love that fifth graders are independent and can hold mature conversations. Also, they mostly like the same music as me so that's nice! 3. What is your favorite book and why? My favorite book is the Great Gatsby because it has incredible imagery. 4. Tell us about your favorite part of Oak Springs. My favorite part about Oak Springs is that everyone treats each other like family. There is so much support and kindness throughout the halls. 5. If you could have any super power in the world, what would it be and why? If I could have any super power in the world, I would like to fly! I would love this super power because I don't like driving and would like to get around all of this Austin traffic! 6. Fun fact! One fun fact about me is that I love the Dallas Mavericks so much that I named my pitbull dog, Dirk, after my favorite basketball player, Dirk Nowitzki. Professor Hoang1. How long have you been in your current position/teaching? I have been a Kindergarten teacher as of August 2015. However, I have student taught for one school year before I started my current position. 2. What do you like most about your current grade/team? My team is incredibly supportive and encouraging of each other. They are thoughtful individuals whom have come together to create a team where we are all empowered by one another to foster the best environment possible for our scholars. 3. What is your favorite book and why? My favorite book series has to be "A Series of Unfortunate Events" by Lemony Snicket. I enjoy the mystery and action packed adventures that they stumble upon. 4. Tell us about your favorite part of Oak Springs. My favorite part of Oak Springs has to be the community of professors and staff! This creates a welcoming and community where scholars feel safe to learn and grow. We are all supportive of one another and I love the small community. 5. If you could have any super power in the world, what would it be and why? If I could have any super power in the world, it would be to fly so that I could travel and be able to reach any place in the world in a jiffy! 6. Fun fact! This past summer, I snorkeled the world's third largest coral reefs and saw the "rainbow fish" up close and personal! It was an incredible experience. Professor Martin1. How long have you been in your current position/teaching? This is my first year teaching in my own classroom and my first year teaching fourth! 2. What do you like most about your current grade/team? I love fourth grade! Writing is my jam, so I love getting to spend so much time writing with my students. Also, getting to work alongside Professor Enriquez is definitely a plus. She's basically my superhero. 3. What is your favorite book and why? Ooh. That's tough. I'd have to say, there's nothing quite like a good Harry Potter book. I have read them all multiple times, but my favorite is still the sixth book. 4. Tell us about your favorite part of Oak Springs. I love Oak Springs! I never thought I would feel this much love and support from the Oak Springs faculty and staff; they make school feel like family. 5. If you could have any super power in the world, what would it be and why? I'd definitely pick the ability to be anywhere in an instant. No more Austin traffic for me! Plus, the spontaneous travel would be pretty great. 6. Fun fact! Last January, I moved to Haiti for six months to teach English and work with We Care Haiti. Ask me about it! Professor Scout1. How long have you been in your current position/teaching? This is my first year being a Special Education TA. However I have been working after school enrichment programs for AISD for the last five years. 2. What do you like most about your current grade/team? I would have to say the thing I enjoy most about my team is that we are constantly finding better ways to improve our methods of teaching our kids. 3. What is your favorite book and why? My favorite book is “Like The Red Panda”, because in high school my teacher that impacted and inspired me the most gave me the book as a present. Inside she left me a lovely note saying to never give up on myself and my dreams. 4. Tell us about your favorite part of Oak Springs. I love the atmosphere here at Oak Springs. It’s wonderful to be in an inviting environment. 5. If you could have any super power in the world, what would it be and why? If I could have one super power it would most likely be the power of communication telepathically. 6. Fun fact! My hair use to be entirely blue and purple. Professor Dillard1. How long have you been in your current position/teaching? This is my first year. 2. What do you like most about your current grade/team? I love visiting all the different classrooms and having scholars show me what they are working on- they always look so proud when explaining the new things they are learning. 3. What is your favorite book and why? Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein because it made me appreciate poetry. 4. Tell us about your favorite part of Oak Springs. I love the community at this school- it is just like having another family. 5. If you could have any super power in the world, what would it be and why? To fly- because I hate sitting in traffic. 6. Fun fact! I was born in North Carolina and raised in Georgia. Professor Reinhardt1. How long have you been in your current position/teaching? 3 weeks and loving it. 2. What do you like most about your current grade/team? The students are wonderful and come to school ready to learning and my team is amazing! They are always there to help me. 3. What is your favorite book and why? The Very Hungry Caterpillar, because my daughter and I enjoy reading it together. 4. Tell us about your favorite part of Oak Springs. The school environment. Everyone is happy to be here and ready to teach. 5. If you could have any super power in the world, what would it be and why? To fly ,so I can beat Austin traffic anytime of the day. 6. Fun fact! I play the violin and have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do <--although that was earned many years ago.
